Did you know that if you purchase a home that you can apply for the owner occupied tax discount? Did you also know that it can be as much as a 20 - 25% reduction in your yearly tax bill? An averaged priced home in Sioux Falls receiving the discount could save anywhere from $50 - $75 per month on up. To obtain the discount, go to your county court house and look for the Director of Equalization Office and they should be able to assist you in making sure you receive this discount. If you purchased a home and closed before November 1st you will be able to apply for the discount until March 15th of the following year otherwise you will likely need to wait until the following year.
